Master chef and The Great British Bake Off watch out for the reception children. The children collected apples from our school orchard; they peeled and chopped them. Added them to a pan with suger and water and stewed them. They mixed the ingrediants together to create the crumble and added them together to bake in the oven. It certainly passed their taste test.

What a busy time we are having here in our reception classes. We have incorporated everything Autumn in to our learning. Including Autumn walks; leafy maths; conker counting; autumnal art and sticky letters.

What a treat and educational visit from Congleton Fire Department. The children learnt all about the special suits that they have to wear to protect them from fire; all about the equipment that is used; the fire engine itself; what other 'jobs' they have to attend to.

The bride and all her bridesmaids looked beautiful; the Groom; Bestman and pageboy all looked handsome. The congregation were all excited and the family were all emotional. The wedding took place in the royal reception playground. The bride wore vintage and the rings were designed by Harribo

Mrs Marlow’s class enjoyed their first French lesson after Easter playing “boules” outside in the sunshine today. They really got to grips with the aims of the game and showed great skill in getting their boule as close to the cochonnet or jack.

Mrs Marlow’s class enjoyed learning some animal words in French today. They had their first game of “heads down, thumbs up” and did really well! The children listened very carefully to the intsructions and no one peeked! The also managed to remember the French words!

The children in reception have been learning all about the people who help them. Today they received visits from a nurse, the police and the fire department. What a fun time they had!

Who stole Mrs Fox's Lunch, by Mrs Knibbs

The children have been searching the whole of the school grounds for someone/something who has potentially stolen Mrs Fox's lunch. They have discovered clues along the way. Will the correct culprit end up in the class jail? Will Mrs Fox get to eat today? (I'm sure she will as so many of the children kindly offered to share their lunch with her)

The Evil Pea Visits Reception, by Mrs Knibbs

Reception have been tormented by the Evil Pea throughout the week, he has been up to all sorts of mischief. 

He has doubled, He has written a letter to the children informing them that he is holding poor Mr Sprout hostage and he has frozen him. The childrens challenge was to discuss how to free him.

The heros of the reception class managed to capture the Evil pea by trapping him in jelly.

 

 

 

Christmas French, by Miss Young

Today the reception children have learnt all about how Christmas is celebrated in France. They have learnt about what happens on Christmas Eve and that the children might leave their shoes by the fireplace for 'Père Noël' to fill with presents and sweeties. We have tasted pain au chocolat and have made a special Christmas box and brought home a croissant to try a little bit of French food.
