Year 2 learnt so much on their trip to Congleton Museum. They discussed woman's roles during WW1, learnt about the impact that local people had on the war and looked at historic artefacts.

Year 2 have desiged their own type of bread as part of their Great Fire of London topic. They had great fun deciding which shape they wanted to create along with which filling they were inspired by.

Year 2 are introduced to the 'Icebird' during science, by Mrs Knibbs

The children from year 2 were introduced to the Icebird. The Icebird is a bird who lays ice eggs, the children were tasked with the job of looking after the eggs and trying to keep them frozen over night without the use of the freezer, only using different materials to attempt to keep them cool. They then observed which materials kept them frozen the longest. 

NSPCC Pants are Private, by Mrs Knibbs

A big thank you and well done to all the children who were involved in the Congleton in Bloom winter plant up. The tubs will be in and around Congleton this autumn and winter. Thank you to Miss Hughes for organising this and taking the children.

Year 2 Fire of London, by Mrs Knibbs

The year 2 children have been learning all about the great fire of London. They learnt where the fire originated from; studied Samuel Pepys; sketched portraits of Samuel Pepys; wrote their own diary extracts; tasted the bakers breads, describing the different aspects of bread and created bar charts by plotting their own and their peers bread preferences. 

Safety Council, by Mrs Knibbs

The children have been nominated to undertake the very important role of safety council members. As part of their role they will monitor road safety around the school area; liaise with our school safe guarding lead and assist with the development of safeguarding plans.

Year 2 enjoyed their residential to Chasewater, by Mrs Knibbs

The year 2 children had a great adventure on the recent residential to Chasewater. They enjoyed den building; marshmallow toasting; treasure hunts; camp fire building and much more. They laughed lots especially when Mrs Grice fell in all of the mud! The children were incredibly well behaved and made us very proud in the way that they represented Mossley.

May Queen and King, by Mrs Knibbs

Our Summer fair was a huge success with the crowning of our May Queen and King who along with their attendees will now represent Mossley at local fairs. Well done to our choir and dancers who did a fantastic job at entertaining the crowd.

Year 2 Residential , by Mrs Knibbs

Our Year 2 set off on their very first school residential. They were excited as they left school on the coach. Once they arrived the children made their own beds which was a race to see who would finish first. The trip was filled with adventures and activities that all enjoyed. They were treated to hot chocolate and bedtime stories and a not so midnight, midnight feasts. After a lovely short sleep surprise the children were wide awake for breakfast. They worked amazing well in the team building activites and we all throughly enjoyed our adventure together.

 

Year 2 Method Acting, by Mrs Knibbs

The year 2 children worked hard and embraced their roles during R.E. They freeze framed the arrival of Jesus on Palm Sunday and discussed what their charactors would be feeling at that time.
