Reading For Pleasure

At Mossley, we highly value the importance of reading for pleasure. Every Thursday, all year groups take part in a reading for pleasure session in school.

These take various forms, such as:

  • Hot chocolate and biscuit whilst reading
  • Making reading dens
  • Reading buddies (joining with another year group)
  • Reading in the woods
  • Book blankets
  • Reading rivers
  • Listening to audio books
  • Bring in a teddy/blanket
  • Free choice of what to read
  • Creating art work based on reading
  • Reading café with recommendations of books from peers or staff
  • Parent visits for reading
